Diving in Tenerife for beginners takes place in the south coast. We dive where we always have very good underwater visibility and a very rich ecosystem. According to the procedures of diving organizations, we will dive no deeper than 10m.

Before the dive you will receive a short tutorial explaining the operation of the equipment, but don’t worry – instructor will do everything for you this time, and the knowledge provided is just for your awareness 🙂 Then we will explain the dive trip, as well as how to communicate under the water, safe entry and exit.

You don’t need to know how to swim to try scuba diving. It is not required, because instructor holds you and gives you the right position underwater. You can just try it, but if you fall in love to dive then you can always continue your adventure with us and join the open water diving course

Scuba diving for kids is done at a shallower depth and it is a safe 2-5m. We choose dive sites with calm water, but at the same time a large variety of underwater life already at shallow depths. Who Can Join a Beginner Dive in Tenerife?

Everyone, if you are over 10 years old. One of the biggest misconceptions about scuba diving is that you need training or certification before you can enter the water.

You don’t.

Our Try Dive program is specifically designed for complete beginners.

Before entering the ocean, your instructor will explain:

How scuba equipment works
How to breathe underwater comfortably
Basic underwater communication signals
Simple safety procedures
How to equalize pressure in your ears
How to move underwater

The briefing is easy to understand and suitable for anyone aged 10 years and older.

After a short practice session in shallow water, you’ll be ready for your first real dive.

Your instructor remains with you throughout the entire experience, ensuring maximum comfort and safety at every moment. Most beginner programs in Tenerife include a briefing, shallow-water practice and a guided dive under direct instructor supervision. After diving, you will receive photos and a video from the dive from us, completely free of charge!

What Happens During Your First Dive?

Step 1 – Welcome and Equipment Setup

Your adventure begins at our SSI dive center Dive Lovers Tenerife.

We will provide in the price all the necessary insurance and scuba diving equipment, including:

Wetsuit

Our team will help you find the correct equipment size and ensure everything fits comfortably.

Step 2 – Dive Briefing

Before entering the water, your instructor will explain everything you need to know.

This briefing is designed specifically for beginners and focuses on simple practical skills rather than technical theory.

You can ask any question you want. We understand this is your first dive. There are no stupid questions.

You’ll quickly realize that scuba diving is much easier than most people expect.

Step 3 – Practice in Shallow Water

Once in the water, you’ll have time to become familiar with breathing underwater and moving comfortably with your equipment.

Most participants feel relaxed within just a few minutes.

We approach each person individually and everyone has time to get used to the water.

Your instructor will guide you through a few basic exercises to build confidence before the dive begins.

Step 4 – Your First Real Dive

Now comes the exciting part.

Together with your instructor, you’ll slowly descend into the underwater world of Tenerife.

We start very slowly from 1m and submerge to a maximum of 10m.

As your confidence grows, you’ll begin exploring volcanic reefs, marine life, and fascinating underwater landscapes that make Tenerife famous among divers.

Most first dives reach beginner-friendly depths and allow plenty of time to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. Tenerife try dives commonly include guided dives lasting around 30–45 minutes at shallow depths suitable for beginners.

How much does a scuba dive for beginners cost in Tenerife?

The first dive in Tenerife, or diving for beginners, costs 75 euros for a 40min dive. The price includes insurance, as well as souvenir photos and high quality 2.7k video. Dive time is 40min in safe and calm waters in the south of Tenerife. We dive where no boats, jet skis enter and fishing is absolutely prohibited. Is there organized diving for children in Tenerife?

YES. AS DIVE LOVERS TENERIFE – we organize diving for kids from 10 years old. This is a completely safe attraction, as the instructor dives with the kids 1:1. Throughout the dive, the instructor takes care of the child’s safety and relaxed well-being underwater. It is a great adventure that is not only fun, but teaches to learn about new species and undiscovered underwater life. Diving is done at a depth of about 5m, but we would say more so on an individual basis. Our instructor, based on years of experience and observation of underwater behavior, will know to what depth he can take the diver to feel comfortable and relaxed.

Definetly the best dive spots to try diving are the south of Tenerife, as the ocean is much calmer and safer here. For your first dive, choose one of two sites: the Montana Amarilla cove, or Abades. YES, YOU CAN. TRY DIVE is an underwater diving trip where an instructor controls your buoyancy. With all the diving equipment on you, you will feel very safe. It is a great attraction that also allows you to break through and love the water. I assure you that you will be delighted. We will not dive until you get used to the water.
