Safety is a priority in diving, and the Open Water Diver course places great emphasis on following established safety measures and protocols:

Always dive with a partner and maintain close communication throughout the dive. The partner system enhances safety by providing mutual assistance and support in case of emergencies.

The OWD course in Tenerife in the SSI federation at our dive center lasts 3 days. During these 3 days we perform 6 dives. We plan each dive day at a different dive site.   • Ear pressure equalization problems

To deal with ear pressure equalization problems, it is useful to use balancing techniques. Techniques such as the Valsalva or Frenzel maneuver. This helps avoid discomfort and damage to the ears.

  • Float Control

Controlling buoyancy is key to a smooth and successful dive. You will learn the controlled addition and removal of air from your BCD (vest). You will be taught how to maintain stability underwater and avoid accidental floating or sinking.

No, the Open Water Diver course is for people with no prior diving experience. However, swimming is required. You do not need to be a professional swimmer. On the course you will be asked to swim about 200m freestyle, in addition, it is not a timed swim.
