Open Water Diver course in Tenerife - SSI

To get the most out of an Open Water Diver course, theoretical preparation is important. We recommend booking the course in advance, as you can then study the theory before you arrive. The end of the theory is an online exam, as are the materials you will receive.

SSI APPLICATION – this is where you will have unlimited access to your training materials, as well as certificates and logbook. The app is very intuitive and practical. You will find here, for example: the locations of all SSI dive centers in the world and many other useful tools for divers, such as NITROX tables. Most importantly, the SSI organization makes these tools available for free.

The Open Water Diver course in Tenerife consists of three main components: theory sessions, exam and 6 dives combined with exercises

Theoretical Sessions

During the theory sessions, students learn basic diving concepts such as diving physics, physiology, equipment handling and underwater communication. These sessions are typically conducted through interactive presentations, videos and quizzes to ensure understanding of the material.

After mastering the necessary skills in shallow pool-like waters – ABADES, we continue in to dives at greater depths, and the last day of the course we will dive to the maximum depth of 18m . Such a course program gives the opportunity to apply the learned techniques in real conditions, explore underwater ecosystems and gain practical experience at different levels of difficulty under the supervision of the instructor, of course.

Open Water Diver course in Tenerife - learn how to dive safely

Safety is a priority in diving, and the Open Water Diver course places great emphasis on following established safety measures and protocols:

Always dive with a partner and maintain close communication throughout the dive. The partner system enhances safety by providing mutual assistance and support in case of emergencies.

You will learn emergency procedures for dealing with loss of contact with your partner or problems with your diving equipment. During the course we will practice all emergency procedures so that they will be automatic for you in emergency situations.

The OWD course in Tenerife in the SSI federation at our dive center lasts 3 days. During these 3 days we perform 6 dives. We plan each dive day at a different dive site. We want to show you as much as possible, which is why a course with us is so valuable. In addition to performing the mandatory exercises, we explore the Atlantic ocean.

Certification and Further Courses

Upon completion of the OWD course, participants receive a certificate that entitles them to dive worldwide. It is also possible to continue learning through advanced diving courses, such as Advanced Open Water Diver or Deep Diving

Common Challenges and How to Overcome Them

During the course, participants may encounter various challenges, such as difficulties in equalizing ear pressure or controlling buoyancy. However, there are ways to overcome these obstacles, we will teach you.

  • Ear pressure equalization problems

To deal with ear pressure equalization problems, it is useful to use balancing techniques. Techniques such as the Valsalva or Frenzel maneuver. This helps avoid discomfort and damage to the ears.

  • Float Control

Controlling buoyancy is key to a smooth and successful dive. You will learn the controlled addition and removal of air from your BCD (vest). You will be taught how to maintain stability underwater and avoid accidental floating or sinking.

Open Water Diver in Tenerife price: 399 euro in SSI DIVE CENTER DIVE LOVERS TENERIFE. This price includes diving insurance, full dive equipment, theory online, certificate and pictures and video. 

No, you don’t. Open Water Diver Course is your primary course and first step to become diver. Swimming skills are requied, but you don’t have to be professional swimmer.  During the course you will be asked about swim distance about 200m.

Open Water Diver Course in Tenerife – water session: 6 dives in 3 days. Theory and exam is availible online in SSI APP and we recomend to finish that before start a practical part of the course. We start at 8:45 and finish about 1 p.m. everyday. 

SSI Open Water Diver allowes you to dive maximum 18m depth.  SSI and PADI are the most famous diving organisation on the world. This certificate is elektronic and availible to show in any dive center in your SSI APP.
